In celebration of the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival - otherwise known as the Duanwu festival - Ougan has provided each employee with gift packages. The Dragon Boat Festival traces its origin more than 2500 years back, to remember and commemorate the sacrifices scholar Qu Yuan made for the Chinese people. Every year, the festival falls near the end of the Summer Solstice.
Dragon Boat racing (hence the name) usually takes place as an ancient ritual, and will happen all around the world this weekend. In addition, making the Zongzi with family is another highlight of this holiday. The Zongzi is a triangular-prism food made of glutinous rice and a variety of toppings (such as dates, egg yolk, and meat), wrapped in a banana leaf. Very delicious!
Fruit and Zongzi are prepared for our staff to take back to their families to share, during this very special holiday. Ougan wishes everyone a happy and prosperous Dragon Boat Festival!
